Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., Mr. Rick Lowe (an attorney with the Duane Morris, LLP) and Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Bill DeWeese would like to invite our members to attend a meeting at Mr. Lowe’s Philadelphia office located at 30 S. 17th Street, 12th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19103, to meet with several board members of the Pennsylvania Prison Society to discuss strategic planning concerning the advancement of Rep. Jason Dawkins former House Bill 2135, which proposes to expand parole eligibility for those sentenced to a term of life imprisonment in Pennsylvania.
Specifically, Mr. Lowe and his coalition’s immediate goal is to convene a House hearing at SCI Graterford sometime in the first quarter of 2017. The theory behind holding this public hearing at SCI Graterford is that once legislators get an opportunity to meet and fellowship with the lifers that they will become more sympathetic to the lifers’ plight of no possibility of parole. As such, if your respective schedules permit, you are asked to please participate by attending the above-mentioned meeting.
We ask that you please confirm or deny your attendance as soon as practicable.
